Hi

I'm a pico beginner and i would like to know if it's possible to save one different octave for each instruments ?I would like to change instruments on the fly without having to redefine all the time .(No option when holding octave keys ?)

Hi Nico,

This is possible using Belcanto in the commander (more information about Belcanto here).

Each instrument in the Pico setup has its own scaler that handles things like the active octave, scale, tonic, ... you can find an overview of the scalers here.

You can change the relative octave of each scaler like this (scaler 3 is the piano sampler):

scaler 3 hey relative octave to - 3 set

Alternatively you can move it up or down like this:

scaler 3 hey relative octave up

scaler 3 hey relative octave down

In this case the scaler will still respond to octave transposition using the octave keys, but be in a different relative octave than the other instruments.

If you want to prevent the octave keys to change the scale of an instrument you can use an override, like this:

scaler 3 hey override set

Instead of working with relative octaves, you can now set the octave directly for the scaler, for example:

scaler 3 hey octave to -3 set

scaler 3 hey octave up

scaler 3 hey octave down

Hope this helps,

Geert
