Hi,
another option that stripping down a setup would be to build one up, adding only what you need. One option that makes it a little easier to maintain the patch is creator from thetechnobear. Here some very basic layouts for Tau:

Hi.

I suffer greatly from brain fog, a side effect of my illness (CFS/ME), and struggle with deeply complicated and new things.

I've recently started using the Tau again, and am trying to make it the central instrument in a new live looping rig I'm building. I'm currently using the standard default patch, utilising the two Midi talkers, and that's it. I've managed to get Ableton Live to pick up the Midi using LoopBE, and it's working great.

I've tried using Workbench to strip back the bloat that I don't need (Sampler/VST/etc), but I keep screwing up each time. I'm using old PC hardware, and want to strip out everything that I'm not using. I'm using everything chromatically, and don't change keys or scales at the moment.

I have a feeling that someone has already done this for the Tau, and if so, would they be willing to share such a config patch file? If not, I have a lot of youtube videos to watch to try and get my head around workbench.

I'm sp glad I didn't sell the Tau. It is truly an amazing instrument, and one that is illness proof.
