I was wondering if anyone has taken the time to make a setup in workbench for pico that mimics brass instrument fingering like an EVI (electronic valve instrument) or even a setup that could allow use of the breath controller on all MIDI instruments. I am not very good with the workbench program and would like to figure out if I could make something like this happen so I could use my valve technique to control synth sounds on my laptop. If anyone knows if this would be possible and would like to collaborate on a setup just let me know.

you need to use the 'fingerer' agent, if you search on this forum you will find various discussions, and setups.

Hi Jarebear3452,

Back in the days I had this on the "to do" list, I still have my AKAI EVI and for sure some of the playing technique.
I'll take a look at my setups.

There are a couple of setups using Fingerer that user Ferdinand has running nicely.

I have an EWI 4000 which I play with trumpet fingering, and I just spent a little while trying to replicate it on the Pico. As a substitute for the thumb roller, the left hand moves 1 / 1+2 / 2 / 2+3 / 3 etc on the left row, while the right hand fingering uses 5, 6 and 7 on the right row.

The table below covers two chromatic octaves, but it would be easy to extend it up to seven octaves by continuing the left-hand fingering pattern over the lowest eight keys.

I was pretty pleased with it for a couple of minutes...until my breath-sensor bust. :-P

The off/outline "left note key" positions shown in the chart corresponds with half-step left-hand positions (1+2, 2+3 etc) on the Pico, while the on/dark positions correspond with whole-step (1, 2, 3) on the Pico.

I think it's a great system...but then, I learned trumpet fingering over 30 years ago. Picking up Gray code now is a bit more of a challenge...;-)
