my question is: it is possible to link two basestations or to send TAU's data to two different basestations to connect them to two different computers ? my idea is to have a backup system to play live using two computers with two audio cards and a Radial SW8 ?

Thanks

Francisco

Hi Francisco

The communication protocol between base station and Tau or Alpha is bi-directional (the base station sends data up to the instrument as well as the instrument sending data to the base station) and point to point (which is due to the error correcting part of the protocol as well as issues arising from what to do with conflicting data from multiple base stations), which means that it is not possible to have two base stations connected to one instrument. It would in fact technically be a very difficult thing to make reliable. This means that running a separate backup computer in the manner you have in mind is not possible.
