So - the Tau has 16x4 keys, plus a few. I'm thinking of a lateral arrangement along the lines of

(Top)
CDEF
GABC
CDEF
GABC
CDEF
GABC
...

etc, in which each pair of rows covers a diatonic octave. Then setting up the eight little keys below (or possibly the percussion keys) as follows

CG
DA
EB
F*

where
- a single tap on a key sharpens the notes of that name, wherever they are on the keyboard
- a double tap flattens the note
- tapping the '*' key returns all notes to C major diatonic

This is, of course, exactly equivalent to the workings of a pedal harp. It gives the main part of the keyboard an astonishing 8 octave range!

2 questions
- has anyone done this before
- can someone point me in the direction of examples of keyboard re-mapping

Thanks!
