General Discussion: Does loop recording work properly in 2.0.50?

The 2.X series is getting pretty stable now and in some ways is probably the most stable EigenD yet as it's had a lot of bugfixes, some of which turned out to be in code that's also in 1.4. We're still bugfixing but the list is diminishing rapidly. There's nothing to stop you downloading 2.0.56-testing and trying it while you can, it installs, like all EigenD versions, independently of previous version so you'll still be able to run your 1.4.

I am unable to record a loop longer than 2 bars in v2.0.50. I've tried with keygroup 1 and keygroup 1. Have changed number of bars from 1 to 32. The lights change, but length of recorded loop is always 2 bars.

This is using Tau factory setup. Tried both S1 and AU1.

Can anyone else confirm this?

TIA

Randy

Follow up: I tried loop recording in v2.0.48 and it works as expected.

Hi Randy,

I spent quite a while yesterday trying to reproduce this, but I can't. Can you please provide a step-by-step explanation of what you do so that I can try to do exactly the same?

Thanks,

Geert

1) Open Tau Factory setup
2) Select split 1 (all keys)
3) Press mode key
4) Press key 3 in bottom set of lights
5) Select any of the keys 1-8 to set number of bars to record
6) Press mode key and select instrument to record
7) Turn on metronome
8) Arm record
9) Record notes

in 2.0.50, after 2 bars the recorded notes start playback loop no matter how many bars I've chosen to record. In 2.0.48, the correct number of bars are recorded and play back correctly.

@randy, I can't reproduce this. Would you mind doing just that and when it doesn't record for the different bar length, send a bug report from EigenD. This might give us additional information into what's going on for you. Do make sure you're using the factory setup.

OK... glitch in the matrix I guess. The loop recording worked fine for me in my tests just now. Able to record different number of measures. Not sure what the problem was the other day... Sorry to have you spend time on this, Geert.

I'm experiencing this in 2.0.52, Tau Factory Setup - except I'm limited to one bar. Have reported as a bug from EigenD.

Thanks for reporting this, we've indeed identified a problem in the Alpha and Tau factory setups regarding the bar length talkers. This has been fixed and will be available in the next EigenD release.

Should I download v 2.0.52 for use with my Pico now. Or are there still to many bugs for use by a relative beginner? My access runs out at the end of this month.

I'm finding the latest release (56?) is working really well for me. I used it for a few hours the other day and it crashed on exit but was otherwise okay. I'm using the pro release, but standard should be equivalent.

Cheers,
Mark.
