Sounds: Ukulele physical model

+1 for Uillean pipes.. (if you want synth pipes there's a thing called the v-Pipes which has a custom synth controller and a sample library from players such as Jarlath Henderson and Cillian Vallely).

I was wondering what the likelihood was of having a ukulele physical model for when the alpha ships?

If there's enough demand from us for particular sounds (maybe a nice Strad violin?!) can Eigenlabs develop one for us?

I have ambitions for a nice modeled physics/convolution Acoustic Guitar in 2010. I've been talking to Aaron, our physics model guru (who wrote the 'Cello and Clarinet) and its possible, so keep an eye out. A Ukulele is a subset of this probeem, less strings and a different impulse response, so it should be easy after the main problem.

Violin wise, we already have the engine for this, you just need to load a good violin impulse response into the 'Cello (there'll be an FAQ telling you how to do this up sometime tommorow, Sam's already written it). We don't have any yet, but if anyone is prepared to lend me their Stadivarius, one will will be available shortly after!

Joking aside, this is an area we'll be working hard on in 2010.

cheers

John

For those interested in experimenting with their own impulse responses, there is an FAQ entry devoted to this:

Cello Impulse Response

If you need any more information please let me know.

Who besides me would be interested in a physical model of a Saxophone?
Tenor preferred.

I would like a sax ... and a physical model of every other instrument! Electric guitar would be nice too.

We've been talking to Arne from Wallander Instruments (who make a great modelled Sax) and it's quite possibile that he'll be producing an Eigenharp compatibile version of his instrument in 2010. The physics of a saxophone is really complicated and hard to model - he has created a very good software instrument that does this well. I'll keep you posted.

@John: Are you talking about some kind of native access to wivi? Or 'just' a compatible AU?

The Sax would be an amazing instrument for the Pico... I'd be very interested in this!

I've been looking hard for a good violin impulse on the net without any success. Has anyone discovered any authentic (and preferably free) impulses?

I'd love an Oboe (but I think I'll be in the tiny little minority wanting that one!) ... or indeed the Uillean Pipes?

:)

Wishful thinking ... ;)
